JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Farm Bureau FARM-PAC trustees from the 19th State Senatorial District endorsed Republican incumbent Kurt Schaefer during an endorsement session Aug. 29. Schaefer is running against Democrat opponent Mary Wynne Still. Both candidates are from Columbia. The 19th District was reorganized to include Boone and Cooper counties.

First elected to the State Senate in 2008, Schaefer is chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. He is also a former general counsel and deputy director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

“Kurt is a strong advocate in the state legislature for agriculture and rural Missouri,” Boone County Farm Bureau President and FARM-PAC Trustee Nathan Martin of Centralia said. “We wholeheartedly support his candidacy.”

Missouri Farm Bureau’s regional FARM-PACs are political action committees of farmers and ranchers who are selected as trustees by their county Farm Bureau organizations. The trustees interview the candidates running in the general election, review their voting records, and seek their positions on issues. For any endorsement to stand, two-thirds of the vote tallied must favor a candidate.
