The name Chris Koenig was drawn from thousands as the winner of a new John Deere D100 model lawn tractor. Koenig (center in photo) from Belle, Mo., won the machine by entering his name in a drawing at the Missouri Farm Bureau fair building during the 2012 Missouri State Fair.
Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst handed the keys over to Koenig. The lawn tractor was delivered by Andy Haller (left in photo) from Donald Farm and Lawn which has John Deere stores in Lebanon, Rolla and Jefferson City.
The 83-year-old Koenig has been going to the State Fair since he graduated high school and has been a Farm Bureau member for at least 40 years. “I still got some land my grandpa bought back in 1884,” he says. His lawn is small enough to mow with a push mower, but the riding lawn mower will be a nice change. “I appreciate winning it,” he says. “The only way you can win is if you sign up.”
During the 10-day fair, more than 20,000 fairgoers entered the drawing. The lawn tractor is provided courtesy of John Deere and Missouri Farm Bureau.
