JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Trustees representing Missouri Farm Bureau’s FARM-PAC endorsed Republican incumbent Tom Dempsey for reelection. Dempsey is running unopposed for Senator in the 23rd State Senate District.
The endorsement came after trustees reviewed Dempsey’s response to a FARM-PAC questionnaire, reviewed his voting record and heard remarks from the Senator at a meeting of the St. Charles County Farm Bureau Board on October 1.
First elected to the State Senate in 2007, Dempsey currently serves as Senate Majority Floor Leader. During the last session, he chaired the Senate Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions and Ethics committee and vice-chaired the Administration and Gubernatorial Appointments committees. Senator Dempsey is vice president of First National Bank of St. Louis and his family is also in the restaurant business.
Missouri Farm Bureau’s regional FARM-PACs are political action committees of farmers and ranchers who are selected as trustees by their county Farm Bureau organizations. For any endorsement to stand, two-thirds of the vote tallied must favor a candidate.
