Budget for Missouri Department of Agriculture Concerns Farm Organizations

Missouri's major agricultural organizations representing livestock producers issued a joint statement today expressing their concern with the inadequate funding of the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Of particular concern is the proposed funding of the department's animal health programs.

Smithville High Students Work With Mentors to Build Robots

Known as S.W.A.T. (Smithville Warriors Advancing Technology Team), students and mentors have just wrapped up their third season of competition in a unique program that tests their marketing, design and machining skills. Starting with identical parts, teams across the country build a robot. The teams then gather their robots together in a competition to see who can perform the same task best.

Farm Bureau Testifies to Importance of Inland Waterway System to Agriculture

Jefferson City, MO - The Missouri House of Representatives Committee on Transportation heard testimony today from Missouri Farm Bureau on the importance of Missouri's inland waterway system to agriculture.

Reconstruction of a two-story log home built in the mid 1800's began a journey into history for Missouri Farm Bureau in 2005. The restored home is the start of the Rural Heritage Learning Center that when finished will tell the story of agriculture. Here is more information on this special project.

Missourian Appointed to EPA Advisory Committee

Jefferson City, MO - Chris Chinn, a farmer from Clarence, Missouri, was appointed this week by EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson to serve on a newly-formed Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Advisory Committee. The purpose of the committee is to strengthen EPA's relations with the agriculture community.
