Insurance Company History
Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance Services was created
to fill a need - to provide insurance coverages to farmers and other rural residents
of Missouri. Many large insurers traditionally underserved these individuals because
they lived far from larger cities and towns. The membership and leaders of Missouri
Farm Bureau recognized the opportunity that they could create companies that would
provide insurance coverage to benefit this important group of people.
In 1946, automobile insurance was offered to Missouri
Farm Bureau members through Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company. In 1949 the
company expanded their operations to offer property insurance. Now known as Farm
Bureau Town and Country Insurance Company of Missouri, we are among the top ten
writers of automobile and homeowners insurance in Missouri, as well as the number
one writer of Farm related coverages in the state.
Following the establishment of our property and
casualty affiliate, it was a natural progression for Missouri Farm Bureau to develop
its own life insurance company. Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company of Missouri
was born in 1950. Offering a variety of whole life and term insurance products,
our life company celebrates its Golden Anniversary this year with well over $2,000,000,000
of life insurance in force. With new fixed and variable annuity products available
this year, Farm Bureau Life is moving forward to meet the needs of its policyholders
and their beneficiaries.
Our third insurance affiliate is Missouri Farm
Bureau Insurance Brokerage, Inc. This company was established in 1980 to allow
our agency force to offer their clients coverages unavailable through Town &
Country or Farm Bureau Life. Starting with just a handful of carriers, our brokerage
now boasts an affiliation with over 100 companies. We can offer coverage in basic
and specialty lines for life, health, property, and casualty - for personal as
well as commercial risks.
Investment Philosophy
Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance Services operates
all its affiliates with a conservative and prudent investment philosophy. An investment
committee, made up of top management of the insurance affiliates, with the input
of investment advisors regularly reviews the performance of company assets along
with carefully analyzing market trends. Any investment made by our insurance affiliates
must meet minimum investment grades. We focus our investment portfolios on high
quality securities that meet the business needs of the respective company. This
conservative philosophy is followed in order to keep our commitments to our policyholders.

We realize that the insurance buying public has
many choices in the marketplace. There are more ways to buy insurance today than
ever before. However, the buying decision shouldn't be made based upon cost alone.

through our over 225 agents and field managers across Missouri, supported by a
hard working group of service center secretaries, home office staff dedicated
to our member service philosophy, and our own group of claims representatives
whose first priority is to you, the policyholder.
