James Wins Lawn Mower in Farm Bureau Drawing
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Sara James’ name was drawn from thousands as winner of a new D100 model John Deere riding lawn mower. James, of Paris, Mo., won the machine by entering her name in a drawing at the Missouri Farm Bureau fair building during 2011 Missouri State Fair.
James and her husband, Rick have always been involved in the Fair, showing Maine Anjou cattle of which they care for a herd of 150 on their Paris farm. Rick has shown cattle at the Fair since the age of eight. Sara has gone to the fair for almost as long as they have been married, for more than 27 years. Each year she enters her name in the Farm Bureau-John Deere drawing. “I was excited and surprised when I got the call,” she says. “This year I only signed up three times instead of every day. We are usually there during the entire fair.”
The James are Farm Bureau members active in the Monroe County Farm Bureau. Sara serves as county information chairman and Rick is county commodity chairman.
As the owner of an older John Deere mower, Sara will feel right at home with the new machine. “I do the mowing. It takes about an hour-and-a-half,” she says.
