Smith Endorsed by Missouri Farm Bureau PAC

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. –Trustees of the Missouri Farm Bureau Southeast Regional Endorsement Committee have endorsed Jason Smith for re-election in the 8th Congressional District.  Smith’s candidacy was considered under MOFB’s “Friendly Incumbent” rule, as he has been a strong supporter of agriculture since first elected in 2013.

Farm Bureau trustees from 21 counties attended the endorsement session in Poplar Bluff July 30.

Smith was elected to Congress in 2013 in a special election and was re-elected in 2014 and 2016. He is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. He is a Farm Bureau member who still owns the family farm started by his great-grandfather near Salem.

Jinks Wynn, chairman of the Southeast Regional Endorsement Committee, said Smith is an important defender of rural Missouri and agriculture. “Jason has used his position on the House Ways and Means Committee and his personal relationship with President Trump to advocate for free and fair trade with foreign countries,” Wynn said. “His leadership is critical to get southeast and south central Missouri farmers’ products on the shelves of buyers around the world.”

Smith has a 93 percent voting record with Farm Bureau.

PAC trustees on Regional Endorsement Committees are selected by their county Farm Bureau organizations. The trustees interview candidates, review voting records and written questionnaires and seek their positions on issues.
